POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: EMS Programs Clinical Coordinator/Instructor
Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Dean, Associate Dean of Health Sciences, or Program Director, this position is responsible for performing classroom instruction and coordinating clinical education for various Health Sciences Programs. Teaching duties will be assigned by the Program Director or Dean/Associate Dean and balanced with clinical coordination duties. The main focus of this position is to identify and supervise clinical education for Health Sciences programs.
Clinical Education is also referred to as the following:
Externships, Fieldwork, Internships.
- Establish, maintain, and evaluate clinical affiliation agreements with hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the program and its clinical partners.
- Coordinate clinical assignments and supervise students during their clinical rotations.
- Monitor and track student progress, performance, and retention.
- Evaluate students’ attainment of program clinical goals and objectives.
- Provide timely feedback to students about clinical performance measures.
- Provide academic advising and mentorship to students through the clinical processes.
- Ensures that the quality of clinical instruction meets the standards of Programmatic Accreditation agencies.
- Accurately records pertinent clinical information in students’ record as required.
- Calculates, records and reports students’ clinical grades accurately and by deadline.
- Develops and maintains system of record keeping for programmatic clinical site documentation.
- Completes and submits required student documentation to clinical sites.
- Facilitates student submission of health information required by clinical sites.
- Demonstrates knowledge of curricula and subject matter for each course assigned.
- Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses in collaboration with Program Director.
- Follows established curricula to develop syllabi, goals, and objectives.
- Develops instructional techniques and activities that meet the needs of a variety of learning styles for face‑to‑face and online formats.
- Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives by establishing evaluative criteria and tests in order that measure each student’s academic and clinical progress.
- Ensures that instruction meets the standards of Programmatic Accreditation agencies and facilitates students’ success on National licensure and/or certification tests as appropriate.
- Develops and implements instructional delivery that is stimulating, thought provoking and engaging to students in face‑to‑face, online, lab and clinical settings.
- Correctly assesses the educational needs of the students, making changes as necessary.
- Delivers effective instruction, as evidenced by student retention and student success on standardized assessments.
- Ensures consistency in syllabi, tests, and other appropriate course materials.
- Maintains knowledge of computer technology and its application to the field of study.
- Maintains knowledge of Blackboard, and uses it effectively to deliver course materials, assessments and record grades.
- Develops and implements a Professionalism/work‑ethics plan in collaboration with the Program Director to encourage and instill good work habits.
- Maintains a clean, organized and safe lab and classroom environment.
- Recommends equipment to facilitate student learning.
- Follows a lab management plan that targets safety procedures and reinforces for students.
- Identifies safety hazards and initiates correction quickly.
- Provides timely feedback to students about performance in lab tasks.
- Provides for adequate supervision of students in lab settings.
- Participate with preparation of Student and Program Learning Outcomes in collaboration with Program Director and other program faculty.
