Sustaining Engineering Manager

Summary

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in automotive electromechanical products, manufacturing operations, and team development. The ideal candidate will have proven success managing engineering managers, improving technical capabilities, and leading product and process improvements within a Tier 1 automotive environment.

• Lead and manage the daily activities of the Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, and Controls Engineering teams.
• Provide technical leadership and serve as the primary escalation point for engineering-related issues.
• Ensure engineering projects and deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
• Partner with North American Operations and Engineering teams to achieve strategic business objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost reduction, productivity, and warranty reduction.
• Develop and mentor engineering talent through recruiting, onboarding, training, succession planning, and career development.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, Product Realization Plan (PRP) requirements, and company design practices.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to support technical council initiatives and best-practice implementation.
• Support product launches, prototype planning, testing activities, and customer requirements.
• Oversee the development and implementation of new or improved automotive roof system designs and manufacturing processes.
• Utilize engineering tools and methodologies including DFMEA, design standards, tolerance stack-ups, and problem-solving techniques.
• Provide technical support to Purchasing and Supplier Quality teams regarding supplier-related issues.
• Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements.

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers and technical teams.
• Strong experience designing, developing, and launching electrical and mechatronic automotive systems.
• Background within a Tier 1 automotive supplier environment.
• Proven leadership experience managing people, equipment, budgets, and engineering resources.
• Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

• MBA or advanced technical degree.
• Experience supporting automotive roof systems, sunroof modules, or similar electromechanical vehicle systems.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems and manufacturing best practices.
