Job OverviewThe DC Operations Supervisor for Receiving/Inventory Control will lead the receiving and inventory control departments within the warehouse. This role is integral to maintaining accurate inventory and ensuring the safe and timely processing of inbound goods.
Receiving Operations
- Oversee daily inbound operations, ensuring timely and accurate unloading, staging, and putaway of all shipments.
- Verify receiving documentation, purchase orders, and packing lists to ensure accuracy of inbound deliveries.
- Monitor vendor and carrier compliance with delivery standards, reporting discrepancies and damages.
- Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Partner with Inventory Control to ensure seamless transition of goods into warehouse systems.
Inventory Control
- Supervise inventory accuracy programs, including cycle counts, bin audits, and root cause analysis of discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory adjustments, transfers, and reconciliations in WMS/ERP systems.
- Identify trends in inventory errors and drive corrective actions to improve accuracy.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Operations teams to resolve inventory-related issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements for product tracking and reporting.
Process Improvement
- Lead initiatives to streamline receiving dock workflows, put away zones, and putaway routes.
- Partner with IT/WMS teams to enhance system functionality for receiving and inventory tracking.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Operational Support
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Planning, and Logistics teams to align receiving schedules with business needs.
- Serve as a resource for vendor compliance issues related to inbound shipments and documentation.
- Support outbound operations and other warehouse functions during peak periods or supervisor absences.
- Communicate performance metrics and improvement opportunities to Distribution Center leadership.
- Foster an inclusive, safety-focused culture across receiving and inventory teams.
Skills & Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree, or a combination of education and related experience.
- 2+ years in Warehouse or Distribution leadership experience
- Strong background in inventory control, receiving functions, process improvement, and problem-solving.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to independently manage priorities and make decisions.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using data to inform decision-making and measure project success.
- Experience managing the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, and terminations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with warehouse management systems.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective documentation, reporting, and presentations.
- Proven ability to drive a culture of safety through regular coaching, training, and observation.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 70 lbs.
