Position Title
Patient Services Specialist at The Clinic @ Central Oklahoma Family Medical Center
DepartmentPatient Services
Nature of PositionThe Patient Services Specialist will ensure accurate, timely and proper check‑in and check‑out procedures. This role involves checking patients in and out, verifying insurance, completing demographics, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with policies.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least 18 years old.
- Medical/Dental office experience preferred.
- Customer service experience required.
- Ability to work and communicate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team and the public.
- Basic computer skills.
- Phone etiquette.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and/or lift for extended periods of time.
- Check patients in/out, collect copays and account balances.
- Enter sliding fee information.
- Look up and schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments.
- Post daily payments collected during the day.
- Process credit card payments.
- Schedule and process appointments.
- Answer the phone and direct calls as appropriate.
- Maintain provider schedules by making proper appointments.
- Participate in agency‑sponsored staff training events (safety, OSHA, etc.).
- Protect patient confidentiality by complying with HIPAA policies.
- Provide guidance on clinic policies to departmental employees.
- Keep workspace neat and organized.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude.
- Show caring qualities consistent with the values of a community health center.
- Demonstrate awareness of cultural factors and reduce barriers to health‑care services.
- Address patient complaints as outlined in the complaint resolution process.
- Complete and submit departmental reporting promptly.
- Assist in training new Patient Services Specialists.
- Maintain schedules for Patient Services Specialists and review time‑off requests.
- Be available to work at various locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Enthusiastic, professional, and friendly.

- Well‑groomed and dress according to dress code.
- Leaves personal problems out of the workplace.
