Emerging Store Manager

Overview

Emerging Store Manager role ervise front‑end associate team, manage store operation and support store manager to achieve company deliverables. Flexible schedule required.

• Lead front‑end and pharmacy team members, including recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance management and discipline to meet company deliverables.
• Manage daily store operations: assign activities, delegate tasks, schedule shifts, approve time records, control cash management and inventory, ensure clean store interior and exterior, manage repair and maintenance and respond to emergencies.
• Drive operational performance through data analysis, KPI monitoring, corrective action plans and store improvement initiatives. Collaborate with store manager to identify opportunities and achieve growth.
• Support pharmacy during busy periods, including serving as pharmacy technician when necessary.
• Maintain safety and well‑being of team members through appropriate security and training.

• Engage customers and patients, greet them, offer assistance, resolve complaints, and provide positive experience.
• Coach and train team members to find impactful resolution for customers and exceed expectations.
• Improve overall customer service metrics.

• Analyze financial and performance data independently; create action plans to support business deliverables.
• Use operating statements, KPIs and other tools to engage team, drive solutions and actions for store improvement.

• Lead team development: training, mentoring, coaching and career advancement. Manage performance plans, goals, feedback and recognition.
• Recruit and retain talent, build diverse pipeline of future leaders, plan staffing needs and manage hiring process.
• Follow selection, recruitment and training procedures; ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.

• Complete Store Manager learning and development program and required courses, certifications and training.
• Monitor own performance, seek continuous feedback and commit to self‑development. Maintain valid pharmacy technician license as required by state.

• Communicate with team members through one‑on‑one discussions and group meetings. Respond promptly to questions or concerns.
• Assist store manager in planning and communicating the company and store strategy.

• Bachelor’s degree with solid academic record, or satisfactory completion of Walgreens Community Internship Program, or High School Diploma/GED with two years supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated leadership with professional business ethics, strong communication skills and business acumen.
• Completion of LEAP or willingness to complete Walgreens Leadership Essentials training within 12 weeks of start date.
• Fluent reading, writing and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings and weekend hours.
• Willingness to accept promotion into a Store Manager position if offered, possibly requiring relocation.
• Ability to transfer to other Walgreens retail assets within the same hiring area.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Internal candidates: management experience, supervising others, managing and assigning work across front‑end and pharmacy.
• External candidates: business majors, prior retail or food industry experience.
