Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 6 AM to 2 PM;
Wednesday - Sunday, 2 PM to 10 PM
This position is responsible for the oversight and management of the Medication Observation Program at the Keenan House North program. The Medication Specialist will provide medication support as well as observation management to the residents in the program. The Medication Specialist will train and support residential staff around medication observation practices and policies.
Essential Job Functions- Adheres to all applicable state and federal regulations; ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures, code of conduct, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain medication confidentiality and security
- Responsible for storing and retrieving medication from storage
- Document medications on medication administration records and medication sheets
- Orient new residents to the Program’s medication policies and procedures. Observe medications being taken by residents
- Report medication misuse concerns to Clinical Supervisor
- Report medication errors to the compliance department and the Bureau of Addiction Services
- Directly connect residents to healthcare providers and prescribers. Work with providers and pharmacies to coordinate refills and to prevent individuals from running out of medications.
- Responsible for counting, inventorying and disposing of medication. Ensure an accurate return and release of medications to individuals at the time of discharge.
- High school diploma required
- At least one year of residential addiction treatment experience required
- At least one year of medication observation experience preferred
- EMO (End Mass Overdose) Health Medication Specialist Training preferred
- Attend EMO (End Mass Overdose) Health Medication Specialist Training within 3 months of hire
