Salary Range: $32.00 - $37.00 / hour

The RN triages patients by telephone or walk‑in to determine the urgency and level of care needed. The RN is responsible for assisting the Practice Manager in supervising clinical support staff working within the office and for assisting in patient care under the guidance of CHP Physicians. Duties are performed as assigned and allowed under their license. The RN contributes to a caring, collaborative, and innovative work environment, supports CHP’s mission, vision, and values, and adheres to compliance protocols as well as CHP’s policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitates comprehensive care for all patients.
  • Provides relevant patient education, both written and verbally, including education during the initial pregnancy visit, post‑operative and post‑partum.
  • Makes patient appointments, as necessary, and coordinates timely scheduling of appointments for ancillary services and specialty referrals.
  • Responds to patient emergencies within the scope of the RN license.
  • Screen, triage, and responds to patient inquiries via telephone, EMR messages or walk‑in; approves same‑day visits when appropriate; assists with referrals to area specialists; PT‑1 forms; patient education; supervises medical assistants as needed.
  • Assists physicians in all procedures requiring nursing level support; administers immunizations and allergy shots; manages prescription medication requests; processes laboratory results, pulls charts, reviews and holds partials—flagging abnormal results for provider review and filing normal results; contacts patients with results as directed; charts all procedures performed.
  • Assists with running daily controls on equipment; assists in charting for quality assurance (HCG, strep, sickle cell, urinalysis dipstick, etc.); ensures billing codes are correct; performs other routine office duties as requested.
  • Assists with rooming patients as necessary to maintain patient flow.
  • Answers staff questions within scope of practice.
  • Provides staff training as assigned by the Practice Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential

Skills and Qualifications
  • An RN and/or a BSN from an accredited school of nursing are required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an ambulatory setting is preferred. Recent experience in the medical office/outpatient is preferred.
  • Electronic medical records experience is required. Experience with Athena is a plus.
  • Licensed as a RN by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
