Manufacturing Engineer – Job Description
Job PurposeThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and safety of electro‑mechanical production equipment. This role supports day‑to‑day operations by maintaining, repairing, debugging, and troubleshooting automated systems. The engineer will also collaborate with off‑shift personnel to resolve automation issues and partner with engineering teams on the development, testing, and implementation of new automation equipment.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot production systems such as conveyor belts, curing stations, electronic testers, vision systems, and other automated machinery.
Ensure continuous equipment operation by replenishing materials, resolving mechanical and electrical malfunctions, performing adjustments, and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
Complete preventative maintenance activities in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures; schedule and coordinate repairs as needed.
Fabricate, assemble, and build equipment components and sub‑assemblies to support production needs.
Improve equipment performance by recommending and implementing modifications, adjustments, and system upgrades.
New Equipment Development SupportAssist engineers with assembling, testing, validating, and debugging new automation projects and prototype systems.
Provide technical feedback to support automation design improvements and manufacturability.
Serve as a resource to off‑shift personnel regarding automation and equipment troubleshooting.
Contribute to team results by sharing technical knowledge, supporting cross‑functional collaboration, and maintaining a positive, solution‑oriented approach.
Education & Experience RequirementsAssociate degree or higher in Electronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Minimum 2 years of recent experience maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment and systems.
Hands‑on experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including power supplies, sensors, relays, motors (servo/stepper), pneumatic cylinders, valves, and wiring.
Experience with robotics and vision systems is preferred.
Qualifications & Technical SkillsMinimum of 2 years in a Manufacturing Engineer or similar equipment maintenance/automation support role.
Working knowledge of conveyors, vision systems, and other automated production technologies.
Basic PLC knowledge—understanding of inputs/outputs, timers, and logic concepts (programming experience not required).
Ability to perform basic electrical tasks such as wiring sensors, solenoids, and other components.
Strong mechanical aptitude with experience assembling, disassembling, and rebuilding mechanical systems, pumps, motors, and mechanisms.
Familiarity with PC/PLC‑based control systems and programming concepts.
Understanding of quality systems such as ISO standards is a plus.
Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
