Mechanical Design Engineer

• Design and develop mechanical layouts and assemblies for switch gear, switchboards, and related systems.
• Create and revise detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using Autodesk Inventor or equivalent 3D CAD software and AutoCAD 2D.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure seamless mechanical and electrical integration of components.
• Provide hands‑on factory floor support to resolve design, fit, or assembly issues during production.
• Participate in research and development projects, contributing to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing capabilities.
• Troubleshoot design and fabrication challenges with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Maintain accurate documentation and revision control for all design files and drawings.
• Manage time effectively to meet project schedules and deadlines for customer approval drawings, BOM release, and production support.
• Communicate effectively across departments to support smooth project execution and timely delivery.

• 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as Autodesk Inventor.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
• 2-5 years of experience working with sheet metal.

Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, IL.

The pay range for this position is $28.00 – $32.00 per hour.
