OD Grinder

This role offers a pay range of $25-$30 per hour for a 1st shift schedule running from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Located in Addison, IL, this is a temp-to-hire opportunity. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and successfully complete a background check, a 9-panel drug screen, and an interview process, along with providing a resume.

Our client is a precision manufacturing firm focused on delivering high-quality components and specialized machining solutions. They are currently looking for a skilled professional to contribute to their Lapping Department.

We are looking for a seasoned OD Grinder to become part of our production team. The successful applicant will possess practical experience in the setup and operation of cylindrical grinding machinery and demonstrate proficiency in maintaining strict tolerances within a high-precision manufacturing setting.

• Configure and run OD/cylindrical grinding equipment.
• Achieve precise dimensions on outside diameters to help ensure the final product meets all engineering requirements.
• Analyze and utilize blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical work instructions.
• Choose and prepare grinding wheels according to task needs.
• Configure machine feed rates, speeds, and operational parameters.
• Utilize various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify accuracy.
• Verify that completed components adhere to all quality and dimensional standards.
• Modify machine settings as necessary to help maintain consistent part quality throughout the production run.
• Conduct both final and in-process quality evaluations.
• Keep the workstation tidy and well-maintained to promote a safe working environment for the entire team.
• Adhere to all established safety protocols and quality guidelines to help maintain a secure workplace.

• At least 3 years of direct experience with cylindrical/OD grinding is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machining practices and grinding techniques.
• Capability to interpret GD&T and complex blueprints.
• Demonstrated success in working with precision measurements and tight tolerances.
• Expertise in using precision tools like calipers and micrometers.
• Strong focus on detail to help ensure the consistent production of high-quality components.
• Ability to resolve common grinding or machine-related problems.
• Capacity to work autonomously with little oversight to help drive project completion.
