Position: Theatre Centre Technician I (Part-Time)

Addison is searching for two (2) Part-Time Theatre Centre Technician I positions. Under general supervision, manages the general operations of the Theatre facility to include booking, scheduling, client management, and budget and maintenance oversight.

Responsibilities
  • Implements policies and procedures to ensure the physical spaces and technical resources owned by the Town are properly utilized and cared for so that they retain their value and utility.
  • Acts as the secondary communication bridge between the Theatre Manager and user group ensuring smooth operations and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Implements the execution of all approved facility agreements and notifies the Manager of any policies not being followed
  • Ensures all set constructions comply with applicable codes.
  • Will occasionally run sound or lighting for users and Town sponsored events. Technically proficient in audio software/hardware, advanced knowledge of audio equipment (microphones, mixers, and speakers), recording techniques and lighting plots that can conceptualize and execute complex lighting designs that enhance a performance. Instructs user groups in equipment operation.
  • Displays initiative in finding solutions to service delivery challenges and displays flexibility and a positive attitude in resolving customer grievances.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to all clients using the facility – to include pre-event meetings and on-site support.
  • Performs maintenance of facilities, fixtures, and equipment including indoor and outdoor lighting, sound systems, and shop tools; schedules and oversees outside maintenance contractors.
  • Will advise Manager on a variety of Theatre related issues and policies.
  • Oversees facility specific projects such as removal of large concrete flooring sections with forklift and repair and maintenance of building related items.
  • Oversees assigned temporary labor personnel hired and approved by the Manager.
  • Oversees move-ins and removals of off-site set pieces. Supervises load in and out of clients.
  • Conducts daily physical inventory of Town-owned equipment; maintains inventory records and maintenance schedules.
  • Sets up and breaks down venue spaces according to client requirements/needs and maintains cleanliness standards.
  • Opens and closes facility. Checks and locks all doors, gates, and windows when closing facility; changes light bulbs; cleans light fixtures; climbs ladders.
  • Assists in organization of storage spaces to include all facility lighting and sound equipment, projectors, and shop tools.
  • Vacuums; maintains public spaces; cleans lavatories and restrooms as needed; acts as general handyman repairing minor building maintenance problems. Submit facilities tickets for all repairs outside the scope of normal day to day operations.
  • Operate forklift as necessary for Town events, deliveries and general space configuration.
  • Acts as the Manager on Duty (MOD) overseeing operations and customer service for specific shifts, events or performances
  • May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in theater operations; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment
  • Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of office and business policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of negotiation and problem-solving methods, techniques, and practices.
  • Knowledge of theatre management practices.
  • Knowledge of computerized ticket sales, digital inventory management, and venue operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Design software.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, State, and Federal laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Skill in working on multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
