OverviewDue to continued growth, the Field Services (FSV) division seeks a Commissioning Engineer IV to support client teams across the Mid‑Atlantic region. You will join a workforce of 200+ experienced engineers and technicians working on utility and industrial projects with a focus on safety, quality, and innovation.
Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities—from pre‑commissioning through energization and project close‑out—for utility substation protection, control, and power circuits.
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering documents ahead of projects and outages.
- Diagnose and resolve problems associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.
- Participate in project meetings, including kickoff, planning, progress, and lessons‑learned sessions.
- Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and final reports documenting progress, issues, recommendations, and test results.
- Develop and support project‑specific testing and commissioning plans and energization schedules.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation techniques, including Site Risk Assessments for high‑risk construction and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all applicable tests are performed on every piece of equipment and that results are documented, filed, and distributed appropriately.
- Develop, review, and approve detailed test reports for various electrical equipment.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) with related experience in testing and commissioning services.
- 7+ years of experience in utility testing and commissioning (electric utility experience preferred; training provided for qualified candidates).
- Proficiency reading construction and manufacturer drawings, specifications, and schematic diagrams.
- Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, relay communication, and basic AC/DC schematics.
- Experience with medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment, including apparatus testing.
- Solid understanding of substation utility protection and control circuits; ability to conduct and document commissioning activities.
- Experience with Doble Protection Suite, Pro Test, SEL AcSELerator, or Enoserv RTS preferred.
- Valid U.S. work eligibility and a current U.S. driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel out of town for up to several weeks and work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
