The Sr Accountant, Incentives and Departments is responsible for accounting for Concentra's sales commissions and other incentives including administration, calculations, analyses, and projections, as well as other corporate functions. The Sr Accountant, Incentives and Departments also provides support to assigned department leaders and senior leadership, working closely with them on monthly accounting, analyses, budgets, and reporting. The position continuously maintains all related controls and follows GAAP to foster an environment of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Financially administer and account for all aspects of monthly and quarterly sales incentives per established plans including submission for payout processing following proper approvals.
- Work closely with Concentra sales leadership in administration of the sales incentive plans including calculations, modeling as needed, target setting and assistance with monthly projections.
- Responsible for all of the accounting activities for assigned support departments in the company, including monthly journal entries, financial analyses and reporting.
- Work with department leaders and executive leadership on annual forecasting and budgeting of assigned departments.
- Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations monthly, notifying leadership of any issues and/or items to resolve.
- Follow existing policies and procedures to ensure an effective system of internal controls is maintained and identify potential areas of risk or improvement.
- Demonstrates ability to work with sensitive information, such as compensation, and maintain confidentiality.
- Participate in other projects, analyses, or reporting as requested by leadership.
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Degree must be from an accredited college or university.
Certifications and/or Licenses: CPA or candidate is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and full cycle month end close process, account reconciliation and variance analysis.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with all levels of management, critical problem solving and analytical skills; detail oriented.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced structured corporate environment.
- Ability to assist in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Superior computer skills including Excel; experience with Oracle and Hyperion a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Recognize and identify areas of risk or potential improvement.
- Possess a continual sense of curiosity and creativity to improve processes.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously sitting for extended periods, frequent walking, and occasional standing. May continuously utilize hands and fingers for typing, and operate PC and office equipment. Heavy computer usage requiring wrist movement for at least 8 hours per day. Occasional stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, or overhead reaching. The ability to hear and understand with clarity and to have conversations with staff, customers, management, etc.
Normal or corrected vision to acceptable levels for office work. The ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds. The mental demands include meeting deadlines, handling confidential information, and interacting with staff in stressful situations.
