When the Easy Fix Doesn t Work, You re the Tech They Call Now Hiring:
Voice & Data Service Technician DFW, TX Anyone can pull cable. Can you find the problem when something isn t working? TradeSTAR is recruiting an experienced Voice & Data Service Technician for a client opportunity supporting commercial customers throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We re looking for a technician who knows how to walk into an existing facility, assess the situation, troubleshoot the system, and get the job done right.

This is a hands‑on service and troubleshooting role involving structured cabling, fiber optics, moves/adds/changes, testing, repairs, and modifications to existing commercial systems. If you re comfortable working independently, dealing directly with customers, and being the person they count on to solve the problem, we want to talk to you.

What You ll Be Doing:

Troubleshoot and repair existing commercial voice and data cabling systems.

Diagnose connectivity issues and determine the appropriate solution.

Complete moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) in active facilities.

Install, terminate, repair, and test Cat6 and Cat6A cabling.

Troubleshoot, terminate, and repair fiber optic cabling.

Test and certify copper and fiber installations using industry-standard equipment.

Trace, identify, label, and document existing cabling.

Troubleshoot jacks, patch panels, cable runs, and related infrastructure.

Perform service work in MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms, and equipment spaces.

Coordinate with customer IT departments, facility personnel, project teams, and end users.

Complete service documentation detailing work performed, materials used, and corrective actions.

Manage assigned service calls and daily responsibilities with limited supervision.

Perform work in occupied healthcare facilities while following required dust‑control and infection‑prevention procedures.

What We re Looking For:

3+ years of commercial voice/data, structured cabling, or low‑voltage experience preferred.

Previous experience with service calls, troubleshooting, and MAC work.

Strong hands‑on knowledge of Cat6 and Cat6A structured cabling systems.

Experience terminating, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting copper cabling.

Fiber optic troubleshooting and termination experience.

Experience using cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting equipment.

Comfortable working in MDF/IDF and telecom environments.

Ability to trace and diagnose issues within existing cabling infrastructure.

Basic understanding of IP networking and network connectivity.

Ability to read prints, floor plans, and technical documentation.

Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic service documentation.

Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field.

Professional communication and customer‑service skills.

Valid driver s license and reliable transportation.

This Is More Than an Installation Job:

A strong service technician doesn t need every answer handed to them. You know how to ask the right questions, trace an existing system, test the infrastructure, isolate the issue, and determine what needs to happen next. You re comfortable walking into an unfamiliar site, communicating with the customer, and taking ownership of the service call from start to finish. If your strength is figuring out what s wrong and knowing how to fix it this opportunity was built for your skill set.
