This is an exciting opportunity to join Runnymede Borough Council's Environmental Health teamand help protect and improve the environment and quality of life of our residents.

Environmental Health is one of the most varied careers in local government, and this role sits at the heart of it. One day you could be investigating noise complaints, environmental crime or public health issues. The next, you might be making arrangements for a Public Health Funeral or working with partner agencies to resolve community concerns.

You'll work on issues that matter to local people, helping to resolve neighbour disputes, improve living conditions, tackle waste offences, and ensure legislation is applied fairly and proportionately. Every case is different, requiring sound judgement, good communication skills and a practical approach to problem solving.

Alongside frontline regulatory work, you will play an important role in maintaining and developing the team's case management systems and data. Acting as a key user for our Civica database, you will help ensure information is accurate, accessible and used effectively, producing reports and performance information that support decision‑making, service improvement and statutory reporting.

About You

You may already be working in environmental health, anti‑social behaviour or a public facing regulatory role.

Whatever your background, if you enjoy solving problems, engaging with people and taking ownership of cases, this could be an excellent opportunity to develop your career in Environmental Health.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • The ability to manage a varied workload and balance competing priorities.
  • Experience of investigating complaints, enquiries or service requests and determining appropriate action.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with residents, businesses and partner organisations.
  • The ability to gather, analyse and present information clearly and accurately.
  • Good administrative and IT skills, including the use of databases, case management systems and report writing.
  • A practical, organised and solutions‑focused approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
