Health Economics Lead - UK

Location and Working Environment

This permanent role is based in the United Kingdom office (Addlestone) and is hybrid, with expectation of office presence. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office. Astellas offers hybrid working to optimize work‑life balance.

Purpose & Scope

As the Health Economics Lead, your main purpose is co‑creation, coordination, and follow‑up to full localisation of health economic models in support of pricing and reimbursement submissions at the national level. This may also include new model development if the global model is not available or not applicable for localisation.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Contribute pro‑actively to co‑create, formulate, consolidate, and implement Affiliate HE strategies and perspectives for integration within the affiliate value strategy plans and brand plans.
  • Ensure effective support to affiliate brand team(s) to ensure timely communication, strong collaboration, transparency and full understanding of HE strategy and tactics as part of affiliate value strategy plan(s).
  • Support Affiliate HE business objectives and budgetary plans with a 3‑5 year perspective through HE synthesis, dissemination, communication and refinement.
  • Ensure strong working relationship with Affiliate Value Evidence, especially related to timely execution on RWE needs in support of achieving optimal pricing and reimbursement conditions for our brands.
  • Lead effective collaborations with other relevant internal stakeholders, understanding brand needs and developing and implementing strategies that address these needs at the affiliate level.
  • Ensure close and effective collaboration with Astellas Health Economics Centre of Excellence, exchange relevant information, and support cross‑country payer archetype projects; identify collaborative opportunities, ensure optimal alignment, leverage resources, and support business priorities and patient access.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive functional expertise in Health Economics, including localisation and development of economic models to support national pricing and reimbursement submissions within complex healthcare systems.
  • Strong strategic capability in developing and executing evidence‑based HE strategies aligned to affiliate value strategy plans and brand objectives, ensuring scientific, medical, and economic robustness.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate cross‑functionally within affiliate and global structures, influencing internal stakeholders and collaborating effectively with Centres of Excellence and value evidence teams.
  • Proven analytical strength and problem‑solving capability, with a strong understanding of HTA processes, market access environments, and evolving healthcare policy landscapes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced academic qualification (PhD, Pharm

    D, MD or equivalent) in health economics, medicine, pharmacy, epidemiology, or related discipline.
  • Experience in outcomes research and real‑world evidence (RWE) generation to inform payer strategy and optimise access conditions.
  • Exposure to cross‑country payer archetype projects and collaboration within global health economics or market access networks.
  • Experience representing organisations in external HTA/payer engagements, scientific advice processes, or industry conferences, with strong professional communication capability.
  • Post‑graduate qualification (PhD, Pharm
