Cataloging and Acquisitions Mentor
Biblio Temps® is an employment service of the Massachusetts Library System that provides experienced library workers for temporary placements in public, academic, and special libraries throughout Massachusetts.
Title: Cataloging and Acquisitions Mentor
Location: Agawam Public Library (Agawam, MA)
Position Type: Temporary
Start date: January 2026
Schedule: Part-time flexible schedule; hours to be determined
Pay Rate: $24.00 per hour
CORI: Required
About the RoleThe Cataloger will:
- Provide expert cataloging services and support for library materials.
- Collaborate with staff on special projects to improve workflows and processes.
- Offer guidance and training to departmental staff.
- Help establish and document best practices within technical services.
- (Preferred) Contribute to the development of a Library of Things collection.
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.
- 5–10 years of professional experience as a public library Cataloger and/or Head of Technical Services.
- Strong working knowledge of Evergreen Acquisitions is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience training staff, creating workflows, and developing best practices.
- Experience with Library of Things collections is a plus.
