ABOUT THE ROLE
The Baroco Corporation is seeking a Program Training Specialist to design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality training programs that strengthen staff skills, promote safety, and support regulatory compliance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring employees receive engaging, practical, and evidence-based instruction rooted in crisis prevention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed practices.
The ideal candidate is an experienced trainer with a strong background in human services, behavior support, and adult learning who is passionate about developing staff and supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities Training Delivery & Facilitation- Deliver Baroco- and DDS-approved crisis prevention, de-escalation, and safety training in compliance with DDS regulations, certification standards, and program licensure requirements.
- Instruct staff on the appropriate, lawful, and ethical use of de-escalation strategies, emphasizing least restrictive interventions, individual rights, and trauma-informed care.
- Facilitate engaging in-person, virtual, and blended learning sessions using adult learning methodologies.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve training programs for new hires and current employees.
- Identify training needs through review of incident data, quality assurance findings, staff feedback, and collaboration with leadership.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through observation, assessments, and performance outcomes; revise curricula as needed to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential training records, certifications, and competency documentation in compliance with DDS, Mass Health, and organizational requirements.
- Collaborate with department leaders to align training initiatives with organizational goals, performance improvement plans, and regulatory mandates.
- Support onboarding and orientation processes to ensure consistent training standards across all programs.
- Develop and update training materials, manuals, presentations, and job aids.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to staff.
- Monitor DDS guidance, regulatory updates, and emerging best practices in crisis intervention and staff development.
- Participate in audits, quality assurance reviews, and performance improvement planning as assigned.
- Attend meetings, committees, and perform other related duties consistent with the role, and as assigned.
- Associate degree or higher in education, psychology, social work, human services, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a trainer, facilitator, or instructor (human services or behavioral health preferred).
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Working knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
- Experience implementing Behavior Support Plans and Positive Behavior Support.
- Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt training to diverse learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, kneeling, bending, and participation in training simulations.
- Experience with crisis intervention and de-escalation training.
- Familiarity with DDS regulations, licensing standards, and compliance expectations.
- Training occurs in classrooms, program sites, community settings, and virtual platforms.
- Regular interaction with employees and individuals supported by the organization.
- Travel to program locations required.
- Valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle required. Mileage reimbursement provided.
