The Al Ahmadi Public Library is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Librarian Specialist to join our team As a Librarian Specialist you will be responsible for managing the librarys collection providing reference services and assisting patrons in finding and accessing materials This position requires strong communication and customer service skills as well as knowledge of library systems and resources The ideal candidate will have a background in library science or a related field as well as experience working in a library setting This is a full-time position with a competitive salary of $1400 per month
Responsibilities- Manage the librarys collection by cataloging organizing and maintaining materials
- Provide reference services to patrons by helping them locate and access information
- Assist patrons with using library resources including computers databases and research tools
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations to promote the librarys services
- Plan and implement programs and events to engage the community and promote literacy
- Train new staff members on library procedures and resources
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and new technologies related to libraries
- Collaborate with other librarians to improve the overall operations of the library
- Bachelors degree in Library Science or a related field Masters degree preferred
- Strong knowledge of library systems including cataloging methods and classification systems
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Customer service experience preferred
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Familiarity with current technologies used in libraries eg online databases e-books
- Willingness to continuously learn new skills related to library operations
This position is open to all nationalities Knowledge of English is preferred but not required Previous experience working in a multicultural environment would be an asset Applicants must possess a valid biometric passport and be willing to work full-time in Al Ahmadi Kuwait
