Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Australian Tax Accountant with strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, trust, and company tax compliance under Australian Tax Office (ATO) regulations. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in preparing and reviewing tax returns, BAS, and financial statements for Australian entities.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Australian clients and accounting teams, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high-quality deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review individual, company, partnership, and trust tax returns in accordance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) requirements.
Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns.
Handle monthly and year-end reconciliations, including accounts payable, receivable, and bank reconciliations.
Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
Perform tax calculations, adjustments, and deferred tax reconciliations accurately.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax laws, superannuation rules, and ATO updates.
Liaise with Australian clients, auditors, and internal teams for tax planning, clarifications, and compliance support.
Identify process improvements and support automation or standardization initiatives for recurring tasks.
Assist senior managers or partners in reviewing work papers, preparing tax planning reports, and client communication.
Manage multiple client portfolios with a focus on quality, timeliness, and confidentiality.
Required Technical Skills
Proficiency in Australian tax software such as Xero Tax, MYOB, Handi Tax, APS, or Reckon.
Strong working knowledge of Australian GST, PAYG, FBT, and Superannuation.
Solid understanding of AASB and IFRS accounting principles.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, reconciliations).
Experience in using cloud-based accounting tools like Xero, Quick Books Online, or MYOB Essentials.

Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to handle multiple clients and deadlines independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective client interaction.
Team-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to a dynamic work environment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethics.
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
CA / CPA (Australia) is mandatory.
