We are looking for a Technical Head – Dredging with extensive experience in marine/dredging technical management. The role will lead the technical management, reliability, maintenance, compliance, and lifecycle performance of a diversified dredger fleet.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the overall technical management of the dredging fleet and ensure high technical availability and reliability.
Oversee maintenance planning, PMS, dry docking, overhauls, retrofits, and modernization projects.
Monitor and improve propulsion, dredge pumps, hydraulic, electrical, and automation systems.
Ensure compliance with ISM Code, MARPOL, Class, Flag State, and HSE requirements.
Develop fleet maintenance strategies, technical standards, and reliability improvement initiatives.
Manage technical budgets, repair and maintenance costs, dry-docking expenditure, and spare parts.
Lead and develop the shore-based technical team, including Technical Superintendents.
Manage OEM, shipyard, classification society, contractor, and technical service provider relationships.
Provide technical input on fleet upgrades, refurbishment/replacement, and lifecycle strategies.
Support emergency response, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
Key Requirements
15–20 years of relevant experience in marine/dredging technical management.
8–10 years of shore-based technical management experience.
Strong expertise in dredger machinery, propulsion systems, pumps, hydraulics, electrical systems, PLCs, and automation.
Strong experience in dry docking, PMS, asset lifecycle management, and fleet operations.
Experience managing multiple dredgers/fleet operations is preferred.
Sailing experience as a Chief Engineer on dredgers or similar marine assets is preferred.
Degree in Marine Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency preferred.
Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification requirements.
Excellent leadership, decision-making, stakeholder management, communication, and team-development skills.
