Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to safety, construction, or an equivalent combination of experience, or certification as Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician (OHST).
  • Minimum five years of proven experience managing health and safety programs for industry, a regulatory government agency, or a similar organization with a strong safety focus and record.
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC security card.
  • Ability to travel to nearby island company locations.
Preferred Requirements
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations related to the construction materials industry.
  • General knowledge of insurance and financial matters related to health and safety programs.
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
  • Knowledge of construction materials equipment and operations.
  • Certified trainer or significant training experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses.
  • Identifies and evaluates conditions which could lead to accidents and financial losses and recommends corrective action(s).
  • Conducts or directs research to identify hazards and evaluate loss‑producing potential of a given system, operation, or process.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares reports.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management and Human Resources (where applicable) to manage and monitor workers’ compensation, other general and auto liability insurance claims, analyze loss runs, and design safety initiatives addressing areas of concern.
  • Ensures compliance with company safety policies, corporate initiatives, state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Proactively creates a stronger safety culture by undertaking initiatives to improve company safety.
  • Develops and implements accident‑prevention and loss‑control systems and programs.
  • Coordinates safety activities with management to ensure implementation throughout the organization.
  • Devises methods to evaluate the safety program and audit safety compliance.
  • Strives to reduce accidents and injuries by providing communication, training, and enforcement.
  • Notifies and trains employees on company safety policies.
  • Troubleshoots and solves safety‑related situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation, repair, etc.) and discusses workplace safety issues with team members and supervisors.
  • Maintains liaison with outside organizations to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
  • Evaluates technical and scientific publications related to safety management and participates in activities of related organizations to update knowledge of safety program development.
  • Stays informed of safety‑related regulations, rules, بھی laws impacting the construction industry and provides technical advice.
  • Engages with governing agencies at the ground level on new laws and provides feedback on the development of new regulations.
  • Monitors OSHA and MSHA inspections, addresses public safety complaints, and keeps benchmarks current.
  • Ensures compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT safety and environmental regulations where applicable.
  • Ensures company safety goals are achieved and exemplifies company safety policies, procedures, and behaviors.
  • Always works safely and takes action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Performs such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be assigned or required.

  • Proven success in working with high‑performance teams, achieving results through others and being a strong team player who can organize and manage multiple confidential, time‑critical, and competing priorities and projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with various personalities.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices required skills and training needs.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and prepare detailed safety plans and schedules.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Strong knowledge of safety risk assessment, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • MSHA/OSHA DOT audit expertise.
  • Strong training skills.
