Job Overview

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Senior Training Specialist to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This position plays a vital role in advancing critical mission objectives within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform instructional support functions including analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of training.
  • Provide training to staff using effective methods, ensuring trainees acquire necessary knowledge and skills for safe, competent performance.
  • Assist training staff, review and evaluate training materials prior to approval, and act in a lead capacity for limited subject areas.
  • Identify training needs, coordinate subcontracted personnel, and contribute to the budgeting process for training programs.
  • Complete requirements for a qualified Instructional Technologist per Manual 4B, Training and Qualification.
  • Present training in varied settings, monitor trainee progress, and conduct evaluations and remediation.
  • Maintain accurate records of training, including rosters, examinations, and transmittals.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through end‑of‑course assessments and compile examination results data.
  • Update management on training status and conduct needs, job, and task analyses for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain task‑to‑training matrices and design training with objective‑based content, sequencing, methods, and settings.
  • Create test items that measure trainee performance, ensuring predictive validity and consistency with objectives.
  • Revise training materials based on feedback and changes in equipment, procedures, or policy, aiming for varied learning experiences.
  • Ensure training materials comply with DOE O 426.2, Manual 4B, and industry standards.
  • Conduct training program assessments and Management Field Observations (MFOs).
  • Provide guidance to training staff on instructor skills and training processes.
  • Prioritize safety in all tasks, obtain safety training, and stop work if unsafe conditions arise.
  • Develop Training Program Descriptions for assigned programs and respond to audit and surveillance reports.
  • Maintain current field expertise and continuously improve knowledge and skills.
  • Perform varied administration tasks such as duplication of materials and navigation of the TRAIN/AQM system.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma + 12 years relevant experience in education or related field, or 10 years SRS facility operations experience.
  • Associate’s Degree + 8 years relevant experience in education or related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree + 4 years relevant experience in education or related field.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Successful pre‑employment screening, including drug and breath alcohol test and motor vehicle record check.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two years.
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
  • Two or more years of training or education experience.
  • Instructional Analyst Level 1 experience and deep knowledge of site policies and DOE orders.
  • Experience developing effective training materials from subject matter expert information.
  • Systematic approach to training processes, evaluating instructional staff and materials.
  • 10+ years specialized experience as a qualified/certified Rigger or Mobile Crane Operator.
  • Knowledge of the SRS Learning Management System and content of rigging/crane equipment operation.
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency in curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with federal laws, DOE orders, and SRS policies concerning training and rigging/crane operations.
Work Schedule

40‑hour work week. Work schedules include 5/8, 4/10, and 9/80. Each day has a 30‑minute lunch. Overtime expected as needed.
