Project Engineer – Aiken, SC
Navarro Research and Engineering, an award‑winning federal contractor, is hiring a Project Engineer in Aiken, SC. The role involves planning and executing project management assignments worldwide, ensuring safety, quality, value, and timeliness of projects.
Responsibilities- Perform basic project engineering functions, including monitoring progress, preparing procedures, documenting communications and meetings, and identifying and evaluating project issues and problems.
- Coordinate efforts of technical disciplines, vendors, and licensors to ensure integrated and complete designs that meet project requirements and contractual obligations.
- Review project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with support functional managers and subcontractors.
- Support creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitor activities, progress, and milestones against the plans.
- Support creation and coordination of project effort hours, cost estimates, and budgets, and monitor progress and cost performance against these.
- Support the preparation, delivery, and coordination of project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Accredited four‑year degree or global equivalent in engineering and a minimum of 10 years of work‑related experience.
- Professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
- Job‑related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a time‑conscious, time‑effective manner.
Job Requirements
- Utilize Fluor University courses for continued learning.
- Leverage knowledge‑management communities to capture, support, and leverage relevant knowledge to enhance project execution.
- Participate in vendor trade shows and stay familiar with new technologies and industry direction.
- Six years of experience in engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management.
- Experience in risk assessment initiatives.
- International experience in diverse cultural environments.
- Completion of at least two medium or large‑sized projects in a project engineering role.
- Knowledge of Fluor’s software tools and databases.
- Strong customer‑focused relationship building.
- Flexible, adaptable, proactive, and analytical approach.
- Technical and business writing skills.
- Basic computer and software skills (word processing, email, spreadsheets, project‑management tools).
- PMP certification suggested.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements, US citizenship is required.
