Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer
CEIS | Government is seeking experienced Electrical Engineers with facilities expertise to support operations at the Savannah River Site and Savannah River National Laboratory. These roles involve the design, analysis, maintenance, and oversight of facility electrical systems, with particular emphasis on medium- and high-voltage distribution. The successful candidate(s) will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance of electrical infrastructure critical to DOE mission activities.
Candidates with demonstrated high-voltage facilities engineering experience will be considered for specialized assignments.
Provide engineering expertise for facility electrical systems, including power distribution, switch gear, transformers, substations, motor control centers, and backup/emergency power systems.
Support design, modification, and maintenance projects to ensure compliance with DOE, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, and industry standards.
Conduct system evaluations, load studies, fault analyses, and reliability assessments to optimize performance and safety.
Develop and review engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
Support predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for electrical equipment, with emphasis on high-voltage distribution where applicable.
Provide technical oversight during construction, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
Investigate electrical equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with facility operations, maintenance, and project management teams to ensure electrical systems support mission-critical activities.
Interface with DOE, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding design and operational requirements.
Ensure electrical engineering activities align with site safety, reliability, and compliance objectives.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of facilities electrical engineering experience in DOE, nuclear, or industrial environments.
Demonstrated expertise with medium- and high-voltage distribution systems and facility electrical infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, OSHA, DOE orders).
Experience with power system modeling and analysis software (ETAP, SKM, Easy Power, etc.).
Proven ability to support field inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting in complex facilities.
Excellent communication, technical writing, and coordination skills.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT preferred; high-voltage certification or specialized training is a plus.
Ability to perform field walkdowns, equipment inspections, and oversight in industrial environments.
