Job Family DescriptionEngineering roles perform engineering work in operations, production, construction, or maintenance environments. They may design and scale up manufacturing processes, instruments and equipment and tests manufactured products to maintain quality. They may plan, design, and estimate time and cost and oversee construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, systems, and components. They analyze and develop solutions to engineering problems related to manufacturing equipment and systems or the causes of component failures.
They develop and apply engineering standards and procedures and provide advice on issues within the engineering field.
Process Control Engineers design, configure, install, and troubleshoot complex Operational Technology systems, including both hardware and software. They work in Operation facilities and require rigor in the conduct of engineering, conduct of operations, safety, security, and cybersecurity. They require knowledge of complex nuclear/chemical processes, facility instrumentation, computing devices (i.e., networking devices, servers, clients, and firewalls), standard and smart instrumentation interfacing, control system designs, configuration of networks, and configuration of process control systems (PLCs and DCS).
They support new projects and modifications to existing facilities. They must understand network diagrams, system descriptions, P&IDs, logic diagrams, single line drawings, and wiring take-offs. They develop requirements, design, and testing documents. They develop software models for complex scientific processes and compare against facility production.
- Develop, test and implement new Delta
V controls to maintain/support existing Facility Operations - Provide creative solutions to upgrade existing control systems
- Experience with DCS, PLC or SCADA programming;
Emerson Delta
V preferred - Experience working in a structured environment with standardized coding
- Skills in troubleshooting DCS hardware and software issues on production system
- Hands‑on experience with either detailed design, commissioning, or field support for Emerson Delta
V Control Systems, Delta
V SIS or virtualization experience is a plus - Experience working with safety systems
- Working knowledge of IEEE/ISA standards
- Good team player and willing to share knowledge across the OT organization
- Automation Support for Manufacturing Systems using Emerson, Yokogawa, ABB, Honeywell Rockwell, Siemens platforms, including programming, graphics development, and system hardware support
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new software requirements for projects and initiatives to support and enhance our existing systems
- Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements and business needs
- Manage projects - defining scope, stakeholder analysis, objectives, timeline, testing phase, implementation, and evaluation
- Write control narratives, technical procedures, and documentation for the applications including operating procedures, troubleshooting procedures, user manuals, etc.
- Train operators on new and existing software
- Work collaboratively with Maintenance and Operations for commissioning, functional testing and startup of process control equipment
- Support, maintain, troubleshoot, and modify existing and legacy control systems
- Develop and apply communication interfaces between equipment and control systems using various protocols
