Pay: $65/hr – $75/hr

Location:

100% Onsite – Aiken, SC

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Work Schedule:

4/10s preferred; flexibility with other approved schedules

Clearance:
Ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited) or equivalent construction engineering experience
  • Must be available for 100% onsite work (no hybrid or remote options)
Impact

As a Senior Construction Engineer
, you’ll serve as a key technical authority supporting SRNS
’s high-hazard and nuclear infrastructure projects. You’ll provide senior-level construction engineering oversight, ensure safety and quality compliance, and act as a technical interface between design, construction, and operations teams supporting national security missions.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide senior construction engineering oversight for complex and high-risk work activities
  • Verify materials, equipment, and workmanship meet approved drawings, specifications, and codes
  • Coordinate construction execution with design engineering, procurement, safety, quality, operations, and security
  • Lead constructability reviews and provide recommendations to improve safety, quality, cost, and schedule
  • Support development and execution of construction work packages and turnover documentation
  • Monitor field activities for compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements
  • Support resolution of field issues, nonconformances, and design changes
  • Participate in system completion, testing, and turnover activities
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior construction engineers
  • Support subcontractor oversight and interface with craft supervision
Minimum Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of construction engineering principles and field execution practices
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction standards
  • Experience supporting construction activities in regulated or high-hazard environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in the field
Desired Skills
  • Experience supporting DOE or DOD construction projects
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASME, NEC, NFPA, IBC)
  • Experience with nuclear, radiological, or high-consequence facilities
  • Familiarity with work control, construction planning, and job hazard analysis
  • Prior experience supporting system turnover, testing, or startup activities
Education And Experience Requirements
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Desired: 7+ years of construction engineering or related field experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
