Industrial Safety Specialist

Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC is seeking a qualified candidate for an Industrial Safety Specialist position to support an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) project.

Aiken, SC

Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and update safety policies, procedures, and employee training programs.
  • Lead incident investigations, determine causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide safety guidance and support to management and staff.
  • Track safety performance, report key metrics, and monitor compliance.
  • Serve as the main contact for regulatory inspections and inquiries.
  • Manage HSE activities on medium to large-scale projects, including preparing safety documents and implementing project-specific HSE initiatives.
  • Apply regulations to advise project management, monitor compliance, and ensure designs meet legal and client requirements.
  • Perform analyses such as Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Safety Cases, Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), and Fire Protection Specifications (FPS).
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of company HSE standards, programs, and goals through training and resources.
  • Promote a safe and productive work environment by fostering HSE standards throughout the company and projects.
  • Support sales and proposals with technical HSE input, estimates, and documentation.
  • Prepare and manage records, reports, and compliance documentation to meet corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input for HSE permits and ensure designs comply with regulations.
  • Communicate with clients and project staff to ensure satisfaction and effective HSE performance.
  • Set HSE design criteria, review projects, and ensure compliance with company, client, and legal standards.
  • Assist in selecting materials and evaluating their suitability for HSE requirements.
  • Analyze complex problems and recommend solutions aligned with project and organizational goals.
  • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Plan and manage personal and assigned work while adhering to company policies.
  • Follow and support company Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability policies.
  • Apply core skills effectively to all HSE tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
  • Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
  • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
Education / Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field is required.
  • Four to ten (4–10) years in industrial, construction, or manufacturing safety.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Nuclear construction experience and prior experience with the DOE or NNSA.
  • Professional certification like Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Master’s degree.
