Job Overview

AGY is seeking a skilled specialist to oversee and train on access to equipment in the Batch & Furnace area. The ideal candidate will have experience leading, teaching, and supporting the maintenance and optimization of industrial equipment, with specific expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting through Wonderware controls and spearheading the hands‑on fieldwork. This role is critical to ensuring the continuous, efficient operation of our Batch & Furnace processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Monitoring and Control:
    • Lead overseeing and monitoring the Batch & Furnace equipment performance using Wonderware controls.
    • Lead diagnostic and troubleshooting of equipment issues both remotely and on-site.
    • Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure equipment operates efficiently and meets production goals.
  • Equipment Upkeep:
    • Lead and oversee routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical and electrical systems within the Batch & Furnace area.
    • Lead maintenance workers' troubleshooting efforts to resolve issues related to electrical, mechanical, and control systems specific to Batch & Furnace operations.
    • Lead efforts with maintenance workers to replace, adjust, and repair components to maintain optimal furnace performance and batch processing.
  • Field Troubleshooting:
    • Support maintenance workers when responding to equipment breakdowns and failures within the Batch & Furnace area promptly.
    • Lead the maintenance workers in utilizing diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and resolve issues on-site.
    • Lead implementation of corrective actions to minimize downtime and maintain production continuity.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and repairs specific to the Batch & Furnace area.
    • Create data analyses for review with leadership and teach maintenance workers.
    • Report and document recurring issues and suggest improvements to prevent future breakdowns.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to update maintenance procedures and protocols as needed.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure maintenance workers follow all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance and troubleshooting tasks in the Batch & Furnace area.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly those related to high-temperature operations.
    • Participate in safety audits and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment in the Batch & Furnace area.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience:
    • A high school diploma or equivalent, technical certification, or associate degree in a related field is preferred.
    • Proven experience as a lead mechanic or electrician in an industrial setting, with a focus on Batch & Furnace operations.
    • Proficiency in using Wonderware or similar control systems for equipment monitoring and troubleshooting.
    • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems, particularly in high-temperature environments.

  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work in high-temperature environments and various conditions, including confined spaces.
    • Capability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools as required for teaching by demonstrating furnace and batching specific tasks.
    • Because this role supports critical manufacturing and production activities, it is required to be performed onsite. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
