Heavy Equipment Operator; Part-time

The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a part-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Engineering & Utilities Department in the Streets Division.

This position operates and maintain all the small and heavy equipment used for dirt road maintenance.

• Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment
• Move equipment from job to job
• Maintain and complete safety inspections on equipment to ensure proper functioning of the equipment
• Maintain all City dirt roads
• Maintain all storm drains on all City dirt roads
• Maintain all City horse paths
• Slope and pull ditches on dirt roads for proper drainage
• Performs other related duties as required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Analytical ability to plan work schedules, diagnose equipment and determine necessary repairs
• Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous of fellow employees, citizens, and businesses while performing repair and maintenance duties
• Two years experience in operating light and heavy maintenance and construction equipment or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Must be able to perform manual labor, operate a variety of small/heavy equipment and hand tools
