Position Dates: August 25, 2026, to June 30, 2027
Position OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to create an engaging classroom environment, have a strong commitment to student learning and be inspired by teaching young learners from a Christ‑centred point of view. This role involves planning and creatively delivering Alberta curriculum‑aligned lessons that cater to diverse learning styles while building a supportive and collaborative classroom community.
Duties- Demonstrate alignment with Airdrie Christian Academy’s (ACA) mission and vision
- Design age‑appropriate lessons that align with curriculum goals and foster learning in areas such as literacy, numeracy, and social skills
- Teach foundational skills like reading, writing, counting, and basic science through engaging and interactive methods
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment, encouraging good behaviour and resolving conflicts as they arise
- Foster emotional and social development, teaching children to express their feelings, work in teams, and respect others
- Monitor and evaluate students’ progress through observation, assignments, and informal assessments, providing feedback to support growth
- Incorporate play, arts, crafts, and storytelling to stimulate creativity and imagination
- Ensure the well‑being of students by promoting good hygiene, managing illnesses or injuries, and supervising during activities and transitions
- Regularly communicate with parents/guardians about their child’s development and address any concerns
- Stay updated on early childhood education best practices and participate in ongoing training
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student learning
- Participate in various staff meetings, professional development and other extra‑curricular activities
- Adhere to applicable policies and procedures
- Support wider school program and activities
- Report directly to the Principal
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Committed follower of Jesus Christ
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning
- Must have a police record check with vulnerability screening on file prior to starting employment
- Must align with the mission and vision of ACA
Hours of work:
Approx. 0.5 FTE – 8:00am – 4:00pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Fridays
Compensation: Based on Experience and Education
