External - Planning TIME

Position:
Contract External – 0.5 PLANNING TIME, Day 1–5 Afternoons.

Applicants may self-identify with one of the four equity-designated groups under the federal Employment Equity Act and may also self-identify with an equity-designated group under the provincial Ontario Human Rights Code. Applicants should also have 5 or more years of permanent contract teaching experience on another board, verifiable via resume and application.

• Be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of pupils in the subjects assigned and for the management of the class or classes, reporting to the principal on pupil progress as requested.
• Carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned by the principal and supply required information.
• Co‑operate fully with teachers appointed under section 14 or 17 and with the principal in matters related to instruction of pupils.
• Be present in the classroom or teaching area and ensure it is ready for pupils at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes.
• Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
• Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required and submit them to the principal or appropriate supervisory officer upon request.
• Ensure reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
• Co‑operate with the principal and other teachers to establish and maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
• Ensure report cards are fully and properly completed and processed in accordance with the appropriate Provincial Report Card Guides in English and French.
• Co‑operate and assist in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.
• Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
• Perform duties as assigned by the principal in relation to cooperative placements of pupils.
• Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
