The OpportunityRocky View Schools invites applications for a full‑time (1.0 FTE) Learning Specialist (Grade 7-9) in the Learning Services team at the Education Centre in Airdrie, commencing August 27, 2026 to June 30, 2027
. This position will be under the direction of the Director of Learning Services and requires reliable transportation for travel between RVS sites.
- Work as part of a team to support leaders and teachers in targeted literacy and numeracy interventions.
- Support the implementation of the RVS Literacy and Numeracy Framework.
- Assist teachers with EAL learners.
- Collaborate with a team to design and implement inclusive instruction and assessment practices, including social emotional learning and academics.
- Support schools with curriculum implementation.
- Commit to understanding Indigenizing and decolonizing practices.
- Help schools analyze and use data to inform practice and plan instruction.
- Plan and lead professional learning sessions for staff, including small‑group learning, co‑teaching, modelling, coaching, and mentoring.
- Assist staff in identifying, selecting, and creating high‑quality, inclusive, culturally responsive resources that reflect strengths, diversity, and worldviews.
- Ability to work across Grade 7 through Grade 9 learning environments.
- Proficiency with various technology platforms including Microsoft Office Suite and web‑based applications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven assessment practices aligned with AP 360.
- Have a minimum of 5 years recent classroom experience.
- Be comfortable working with staff and students from Grade 7 to Grade 9 in inclusive education settings.
- Be familiar with Rocky View Schools Practice Guides, Board Strategic Plan, and Divisional Education Plan.
- Collaborate with other Learning Specialists to create engaging and authentic learning opportunities.
- Have experience leading a learning community that influences practice growth.
- Understand policies and procedures that guide teaching and learning (Provincial and jurisdictional).
- Applicants must possess or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- External applicants must provide a professional letter of reference from their most recent supervisor, on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months.
- The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of employment.
