Jr. Instrumentation Specialist – Propak Systems Ltd.

We engineer and build natural gas processing facilities, compression facilities, and heavy oil in-situ processing facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with instrumentation engineering and design for industrial plants and processes
  • Apply practical knowledge and develop broad-based skills while contributing to the overall success of Propak’s operations through interaction with a cross-functional team
  • Assist peers, engineers, and others with instrumentation questions
  • Perform bid/evaluate/award processes including development of Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages, bid evaluations, and Bill of Material (BOM) entry into Enterprise Resource Planning software
  • Read and apply specifications, hookup drawings, and electrical drawings to the specification of instrumentation
  • Read and analyze P&IDs and line lists for generation of instrument lists
  • Prepare and maintain instrument lists
  • Create data sheets to specify instruments
  • Request quotes from vendors
  • Review and approve vendor drawings and documents
  • Interact with Purchasing and Expediting to follow up on orders, the return of faulty equipment, and order changes
  • Work with documentation and drafting personnel to provide required documentation and drawings
  • Generate Bill of Material (BOM)
  • Assist with resolving instrument, control, and electrical technical issues
  • View instruments and installations in the yard or shop and learn the proper installation of different instruments
  • Track time to jobs
  • Attend project progress meetings
  • Research instrumentation in books, pamphlets, and on the internet
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years previous experience in the field of instrumentation
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry is considered an asset
  • Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology
  • Journeyman Red Seal certification (Instrumentation) is an asset
  • Registered with or eligible for ASET certification
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Windows XP, AutoCAD Drawing Viewer, Bluebeam &/or Adobe Acrobat Reader, Units Converter, and Flowel
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical or other training or better in Electronics Technology or related field
  • Technical or other training or better in Instrumentation & Control Technician or related field
