Responsibilities
- Provides design services by gathering information, making studies, computing calculations, and preparing detailed design and deliverables in accordance with project requirements
- Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
- Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposals
- Coordinates design criteria with engineering providing layout skid packages including MCC building, cable tray and lighting layouts, and motor schematic drawings
- Investigates pertinent design factors, such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements
- Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to codes, regulations, and standards, procedures, specifications, critical interface compatibility, productibility aspects, and dimensional accuracy of calculations
- Checks for conformity to design/drafting standards, design specifications, and economy of fabrication and identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies
- Coordinates assigned engineering and design work with other project groups
- Recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers
- Participates in project planning and execution, man-hour estimation, and schedule development
- Supervises and provides technical direction to intermediate and junior designers
- A degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent education and experience
- ASET membership is an asset
- 15 years of directly related experience in electrical design of oil and gas processing facilities with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Canadian industry
- 5 years’ checking experience
- Experience with an EPC work environment
- Fabrication shop designing and checking experience
- Proficiency in latest version of AutoCAD
- 2-3 years’ experience with 3D CADWorx
- 3+ years’ experience with 2D Acad
- Experience with Autodesk programs including AutoCAD and Inventor
- Familiarity with CEC, NEC industry regulations, and standards
- Must be eligible to work in Canada

- The work is performed in an office setting and requires the need to deal with a diversity of people when responding to interdepartmental inquiries
