DescriptionJunior Piping Designers use well established procedures to provide basic design, drafting, and technical support. The position is responsible for preparation of drawings, with the assistance of senior personnel as to methods, standards, and source data. Junior Piping Designers possess a working level of competence in computer design and drafting.
Duties and Responsibilities- Carrying out original layout and design of process equipment modules for oil and gas processing facilities
- Creating and modeling piping designs
- Creating detailed design of structural steel skids and pipe supports
- Revising existing designs based on vendor drawings and changes from stress analysis updates
- Creating layout drawings and detailing of piping
- Producing 3D models
- Producing piping isometrics
- Producing structural drawings
- Producing fabrication drawings
- Organizing design data and vendor information
- Calculating piping components and pre‑ordering materials
- Obtaining and managing design specifics from Engineering and other disciplines
- Collaborating with Piping Checkers, Mechanical Engineering, and Fabrication Shop
Education
- Diploma in Engineering Design Drafting Technology (EDDT) or an equivalent combination of training and experience in piping design
Experience
- Entry level position – no previous work experience is required
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2010 and higher
Other
- Fabrication shop designing experience is an asset
- Understanding of design and drafting practices for piping components
- Knowledge of Cadworx or Navisworks is an asset

Physical Requirements

- Manual dexterity for data input, paperwork and use of standard office equipment
- Wears company‑standard PPE when entering fabrication shops or visiting project sites. Project site PPE includes CSA approved steel‑toed boots and long pants
