Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a fast‑paced technology company and a leader in data center operations. We are seeking a Data Center Engineering Operations Manager to lead an organization of Managers and Facility Managers who own and maintain data center infrastructure. The role requires a deep understanding of both data center IT infrastructure and facilities infrastructure, as well as the ability to ensure operational excellence across safety, security, availability, scaling and efficiency.
An active Reliability Status security clearance from the Government of Canada is required.
- Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team, including compute, engineering, logistics, and security operations managers.
- Attain organizational performance goals and objectives related to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency.
- Plan and execute the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build‑outs, co‑location expansions, and related activities (server hardware installation, troubleshooting, repair, security system installation, and other operational tasks).
- Operate and maintain mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers, including preventive and corrective maintenance and change management.
- Vendor‑manage co‑location data center service providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs.
- Respond to and resolve safety, security, and availability incidents.
- Continuously improve operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.

Benefits & CompensationBase salary range: – CAD annually (CAN, AB, Airdrie). The total compensation package may include sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to improve health and well‑being.
Qualifications- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
- 5+ years experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
- 5+ years in technical project management or as a team member on data center build‑outs and startups.
- 5+ years in IT infrastructure (compute/storage servers, networking, service delivery).
- 4+ years in hardware/security installation, troubleshooting, repair, and data centre mechanical/electrical/controls operations (preventive/corrective maintenance, change management).
- Experience managing vendors for co‑location SLAs, incident response/resolution, process improvements, hiring/developing high‑performing teams, and subject‑matter expertise in data centre systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with data‑driven examples of Amazon Leadership Principles.
