St. Thomas School Head Custodian

Position Overview

HFCRD is recruiting a Full Time, Fixed Term Head Custodian starting May 15, 2026, up to and including July 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension, mas More School in Fairview.

The Head Custodian will work a split-shift schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Head Custodian reports to the School Principal and works closely with the Operations and Facilities Manager for support, direction, and coordination of custodial operations.

• Have a background or experience in custodial work.
• Possess the ability to supervise staff and work effectively as part of a team.
• Have the ability to work in a confidential and Christ-centered environment.

• Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness and appearance of the school.
• Perform daily custodial duties, cleaning routines, and seasonal deep cleaning.
• Maintain safety standards as required by the Province of Alberta.
• Perform small maintenance tasks and minor repairs as required.
• Snow removal and ice control during the winter months.
• Heavy lifting as part of daily job duties (e.g., moving furniture, equipment, supplies).
• Floor care, including running an auto-scrubber, stripping/waxing floors, and routine maintenance of custodial equipment.
• Supervise and support custodial assistants.
• Plan, assign, and oversee cleaning tasks and daily routines.
• Collaborate with the principal and Operations & Facilities Manager regarding building needs and issues.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by the School Principal or Operations & Facilities Manager, consistent with custodial operations.

• Salary dependent upon qualifications and experience: $44,762 – $64,447
