The Shift Supervisor is responsible to oversee and coordinate production activities during the ir assigned shift. This includes ensuring efficient operations and high-quality standards are met while ensuring effective operational flow and use of organizational resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Operations Manager, other Plant Supervisor(s), and Team Leads to ensure the most efficient work design to meet internal customer requirements and timely completion of production targets.
- Monitor daily operations and ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Provide regular feedback to Team Leads on their past performance and future expectations.
- Provide measured results to department personnel illustrating the department’s daily targets and back orders.
- Work with the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to reduce the internal reject rate, communicate and monitor the quality of production and make changes to personnel, procedures, and policies to achieve the desired level of quality.
- Review both internal and external rejects with assigned Departments daily, complete a Five Why Analysis, and create a plan of action to resolve.
- Ensure that vendor defect issues are addressed promptly with Purchasing and the QA Manager.
- Work directly with the Maintenance department to schedule preventative maintenance and to ensure prompt action on any equipment downtime.
- Ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and practices including adherence to workplace organization and visual controls are followed.
- Ensure adherence to all operating instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed .
- Ensure effective training of new hires and re-training of existing staff as required .
- Promote and aid in the personal and professional growth of all production personnel.
- Promote and encourage a sense of team spirit and a desire for achievement.
- Review attendance records for all department workers; ensure the Attendance Management Policy is adhered to.
- Take action to correct unacceptable behaviors, safety and attendance issues, using all available levels of disciplinary action in accordance with policies, in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
- Ensure Team Leads use related software to its fullest capacity
- Monitor and audit all checklists that are in place.
- Must be available to work day or afternoon shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required .
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of Manufacturing experience is a requirement.
- Proven experience in managing and overseeing operational activities within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Proficient in using operational excellence, quality control procedures, and project management tools.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Knowledge of operational best practices and process improvement methodologies.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to effectively supervise and train team members.
- Demonstrated capability to plan, organize, and execute projects.
- Effective ability to train, instruct, direct, and develop your work team to achieve all goals and production targets
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
