Position: FORKLIFT OPERATOR

Responsibilities
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to load, unload, move, and stage lumber and building materials throughout the yard and warehouse.

Pull and prepare customer orders accurately according to pick tickets and shipping documents.

Load customer and delivery vehicles while ensuring materials are secure and undamaged.

Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.

Maintain organized inventory storage areas and assist with stock rotation and inventory counts.

Follow all workplace safety procedures, traffic patterns, and material handling guidelines.

Assist customers and coworkers with locating products and providing general yard support.

Keep the yard clean, organized, and free of hazards to ensure a safe working environment.

Work in outdoor conditions year-round while handling heavy and oversized materials.

Support shipping, receiving, and general lumber yard operations as required.

Qualifications

Minimum of one (1) year of experience operating an outdoor forklift

Manual dexterity to operate the forklift and the ability to lift over 25 kgs.

Good knowledge of safe working procedures.

Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.

Ability to perform at a high level in a fast paced, demanding work environment.

Professional, courteous and punctual with a focus on customer service.

Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.

Fluent in English (spoken and written) with excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.

Basic functional math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply or divide without the function of a calculator.

Experience and knowledge in this or a related industry is an asset.

Working Conditions

Exposure to dust, dirt and extreme changes in temperature and weather.

Moderate exposure to personal risk; safety boots are required.
