Electrical Controls Engineer

We’re supporting a global HVAC equipment manufacturer expanding its North American engineering team. The group is introducing a new generation of connected climate systems and is adding its first dedicated electrical/controls engineer locally to support it.

This role centers on how HVAC equipment communicates, operates, and performs inside large commercial buildings. You’ll help bring new products to market, adapt them for North American standards, and work directly with mechanical and project engineers as systems move from design into real installations. You’ll also collaborate with international product development teams during rollout.

• Develop and refine control strategies for ventilation, heating, and cooling equipment
• Integrate equipment into building automation systems
• Work with communication protocols including Modbus and BACnet
• Create and review low-voltage control schematics and wiring layouts
• Support PLC configuration and electrical design concepts for new products
• Adapt global designs to North American codes and standards
• Troubleshoot system performance and resolve technical issues
• Collaborate with mechanical and project engineers during product launches

• 5+ years in HVAC controls, building automation, or equipment/system integration
• Understanding of mechanical HVAC systems (air handlers, RTUs, ventilation, chillers, or VRF)
• Experience with Modbus (important) and/or BACnet communication
• Ability to read and interpret control schematics
• Background in controls design, commissioning, applications engineering, or system integration
• Electrical Engineering degree (P.Eng or eligibility considered an asset)
