Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.
** About the role
** We’re looking for an Underwriter I, Commercial Lines, to join our growing team!

** What you'll do here:
*** Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
* Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
* Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
* Analyze requests for quotes and recommend innovative solutions
* Focus on building relationships while underwriting and rating policies
* Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
* Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.
** What you bring to the table:
*** Commercial underwriting experience (PNC)
* University Degree or College Diploma required
* Very strong sales and customer service skills
* Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset
* Maintain an expert and current understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and instructions related thereto
* Demonstrate the ability to handle complex risks
* Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues
* Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
* Initiative and ability to work under pressure
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
* No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
