Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

SUMMARY:

The Christmas Toy Shop Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

Accountabilities:

Sign up and schedule clients for toy assistance and Seniors Christmas dinner

Assist with the set-up, take-down and organization of toy distribution program.

Assist with the scheduling and organization of volunteers.

Receive and process donations of toys for distribution and provide assistance with packing and sorting toy donations.

Assist with recording statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.

Perform other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a temporary position.

Shifts will include days Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – 10am - 3:00pm. Shifts include a 1 hour unpaid meal break.

Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.
· Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.

Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (10 kg).Education, Qualifications and

Certifications:

Completed High School or equivalent

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.

Skills and Capabilities:
· Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.

Honest, courteous, and punctual; re present the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.

Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.

Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.

Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $18.50 to $23.13 with a maximum of $27.76.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
