Registered Practical Nurse (CUPE) – Temporary Part Time (12 months)

Wage: $36.95 – $39.02 per hour
Reporting to the Manager of Inpatient Medicine, the successful candidate will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care in a multidisciplinary, family‑centred environment. Duties include personal patient care, taking vital signs, physical assessment, medication administration, monitoring IVs and telemetry, setting up medical equipment, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Registered Practical Nurse status with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Diploma from an accredited community college.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support or CPR/BCLS certification.
- Health Assessment course from a recognized institution (or equivalent).
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical/surgical units.
- Coronary Care I course (or equivalent) required, or enrollment in the next available Lakeridge Health Telemetry course with successful completion upon hire.
- Completion of in‑house arrhythmia quiz within 6 weeks of the CC1 course.
- Physical Assessment Course (asset).
- Continuing education in neurology, nephrology, oncology, and palliative care (asset).
- Patient education skills and communication of expected outcomes.
- Sound organizational and prioritization skills for stressful situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Good performance record.

Conditions Of EmploymentEmployment terms are governed by the collective agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364. External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector dated within the past six months. New team members will complete a Pre‑employment Health Assessment as a condition of employment.
