Retention Worker

Position: Full-Time Housing Retention Worker Role
Drive housing stability with Community Development Council Durham as a Housing Retention Worker in a full-time contract role until March 31, 2027. Support clients through education and community resources.

This position focuses on the Opening Doors Durham Program, collaborating with Landlord Engagement Specialists to screen safe housing units for clients. You will play a crucial role in advocating for tenants, resolving disputes, and ensuring compliance with housing responsibilities. With over two years of relevant experience, you will empower clients and promote long-term housing retention in a community-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build relationships with community partners and clients

• Conduct regular check-ins to ensure tenant compliance

• Assist clients with applications for social services

• Provide referrals and resources to address immediate needs

• Participate in program evaluations and case conferences

Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree in Social Services or equivalent experience

• Minimum of 2 years in a housing-focused community setting

• Knowledge of tenant rights and housing legislation

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

• Flexibility to attend evening or weekend events
