Dean, Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine Responsibilities
- Lead the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the Thumbay College of Veterinary Medicine.
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with university vision, accreditation requirements, and industry trends.
- Foster innovation in veterinary education, research, and clinical services.
- Oversee curriculum development, program quality assurance, and academic policies in compliance with national and international accreditation standards (e.g., AVMA, EAEVE).
- Promote interprofessional education, student-centered learning, and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen research capabilities in veterinary science, public health, and animal welfare.
- Support faculty in securing research funding and building collaborations with national and international research institutions.
- Encourage translational research and partnerships with industry and government.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain qualified faculty and staff.
- Foster a culture of academic integrity, professional development, and inclusive excellence.
- Oversee faculty performance, promotion, and recognition processes.
- Supervise university veterinary hospitals and field clinics ensuring high-quality clinical care, student training, and community service.
- Build relationships with stakeholders including veterinary councils, ministries, and private sector partners.
- Manage the college’s budget, resources, and infrastructure effectively.
- Support fundraising initiatives and grant acquisition for college growth.
- DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) or equivalent, with a PhD in a relevant veterinary or biomedical science discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of academic experience with significant leadership roles.
- Proven track record in veterinary education, research, and administration.
- Familiarity with regional and international accreditation and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A global mindset and ability to work in a multicultural academic environment.
- Strategic leadership and institutional planning
