SQL Server Database Administrator; DBA)

Experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator DBA with over 10 years of experience in managing large-scale databases The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in database optimization recovery strategies fine-tuning and security protocols This role involves maintaining high-performance databases and ensuring data integrity availability and scalability across multiple systems.

• Manage and administer large-scale SQL Server databases (1+ TB) with a focus on performance optimization and availability.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server databases from SQL Server 2014 R2 to the latest versions.
• Design, implement, and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and indexes to improve performance.
• Implement robust security measures, including encryption, auditing, and access control, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Monitor database performance using tools and scripts, addressing any issues related to slow queries, locks, or deadlocks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high availability.
• Develop and maintain high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) environments using techniques like clustering, mirroring, replication, and Always On Availability Groups.
• Automate routine database maintenance tasks and monitoring.
• Collaborate with application development teams to enhance database design and optimize queries.
• Conduct regular capacity planning, forecasting, and performance reviews to ensure optimal system performance.
• Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior DBAs and development teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in SQL Server database administration.
• Extensive experience in managing and optimizing large databases (1TB+).
• Strong expertise in SQL performance tuning, index optimization, and query optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server high-availability solutions, including clustering, mirroring, replication, and Always On Availability Groups.
• Proficient in designing and implementing disaster recovery strategies.
• In-depth knowledge of database security best practices, including encryption, access control, and auditing.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server versions 2014 R2 through the latest releases.
• Expertise in T-SQL, scripting, and automation of database tasks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to provide 24x7 on-call support for critical production environments.

Preferred Skills (Optional):

• Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS.
• Proficiency in cloud-based database solutions such as Azure SQL.
• Experience with Power Shell scripting and database automation.
