Position OverviewNursing Unit Head – Delivery/Labour Room
Responsibilities- Lead and supervise the daily operations of the Delivery/Labour Room to ensure the provision of safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
- Provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to nursing staff, promoting professional development and evidence-based practice.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention and control standards, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee the care of women during labour, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, ensuring optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Monitor staffing levels, prepare duty rosters, and allocate resources to ensure appropriate coverage and efficient workflow.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, midwives/nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Oversee patient admission, transfer, discharge, and emergency response processes within the unit.
- Monitor clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal and professional standards.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, incident reporting, and risk management activities to enhance patient safety and service quality.
- Ensure the availability, proper maintenance, and safe use of medical equipment, medications, and supplies.
- Participate in recruitment, orientation, competency assessments, performance evaluations, and ongoing education of nursing staff.
- Promote patient and family education, ensuring respectful, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care.
- Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare operational reports as required by nursing leadership.
- Participate in hospital committees, accreditation activities, emergency preparedness, and continuous quality improvement programs.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and excellence in patient care.
- Nursing Degree (preferably MSc)
- Valid nursing license
- Minimum 10 years experience in clinical care and managerial roles within Nursing Administration
