Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient before and after surgery, confirming identity, consent, allergies, procedure, and surgical site.
• Prepare the patient physically and emotionally for surgery.
• Maintain aseptic technique to prevent infection.
• Monitor vital signs, oxygen level, pain, consciousness, and circulation.
• Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and oxygen safely.
• Assess surgical wound, dressing, drains, bleeding, and urine output.
• Manage pain, nausea, and discomfort.
• Encourage deep breathing, coughing, leg exercises, and early walking.
• Prevent complications such as pressure injuries, DVT, respiratory problems, and infection.
• Provide wound‑care, drain‑care, catheter‑care, and hygiene support.
• Educate patient and family on medications, diet, activity, wound care, and danger signs.
• Document all care, observations, intake‑output, and patient response.
• Communicate changes in condition promptly to the surgeon and healthcare team.
• Arrange safe discharge planning and follow‑up care.

• Demonstrated ability to work in high‑stress environments, maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure.
• Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse patient populations, ensuring inclusive and equitable care.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
