Job Description Why This Role Matters

This role is responsible for collecting and analyzing sewage, process, utility, and product samples from various plant locations using standard laboratory methods and equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results. The position supports operations and maintenance teams by providing analytical data, identifying out‑of‑specification parameters, assisting with root cause investigations, and conducting field assessments to verify plant performance. Key responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards, calibrating and maintaining laboratory instruments, supporting audits and ISO certification requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation through LIMS and reports.

Additionally, the role requires adherence to laboratory safety procedures, proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

What You’ll Drive Sample Collection & Analysis
  • Collect the raw sewage, process, utility, and product samples from various plant locations according to schedule and protocols.
  • Conduct chemical, physical, or microbiological analyses using standard laboratory methods and instruments (e.g., pH meters, spectrophotometers, titrators, oven, incubator, etc).
  • Interpret and record test results accurately.
Support For O&M Activities
  • Provide analytical data to operations and maintenance teams to help monitor system performance (e.g., boiler water quality, fuel analysis, emissions, effluent discharge).
  • Alert relevant departments of out‑of‑spec parameters that may impact operations or equipment health.
  • Assist in root cause investigations by providing test data and observations.
  • Field visits to assess the actual performance and ensure lab results are aligned with on‑site conditions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure all laboratory procedures comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment as per schedule.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits and inspections.
  • Support preparation of procedures and supporting documentation for ISO certification requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed records of sample testing, results, and deviations.
  • Input data into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or manual logbooks.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly lab reports for operational review.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Follow all laboratory and site safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the lab area.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote safe lab practices.
Qualifications You’re a Great Fit If You Have

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Education:

    Preferably a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:

    2‑4 years of experience in an industrial or operations laboratory (e.g., sewage treatment plant, water treatment plants, manufacturing, oil & gas).
  • Certifications:

    Safety training, chemical handling, or ISO/QA certifications (preferred but not mandatory).
